Here is the Beta 2 build of Genome MX for 3ds Max 2010, 2011 and 2012, 32 and 64 bit.
Please download the appropriate installer and follow the instructions on

This build fixes installation issues an resolves a problem when Krakatoa & Genome were both installed on the same machine, but Genome was loaded before Krakatoa.

The 32 bit build would not start and has been removed temporarily.

And this is a patch for bugs that sneaked in the new build.
Copy the file into your Thinkbox\Genome MX\Scripts folder while in Administrator mode to replace. (Last updated March 14, 8:15 PST)

  • Vertex Soft Selection is not recognized as full selection (even over 1.0) by some old-fashioned modifiers like DeleteMesh. Current workaround is to add two TurnToMesh modifiers with Invert and Soft Selection turned on above the Genome modifier to produce correct hard selection. (FIXED for Beta 3)
  • Cloning a modifier disconnects all input sockets of every BLOP in the flow. Also, creating and exploding BLOPs disconnects sockets but it should not.
  • The 32 bit build does not start. Please use the 64 bit build if you can… (FIXED for Beta 3)
  • A new bug was discovered in the connections of exposed parameters to their controllers after the Beta 2 installer was posted. The fixed script is available for download above. (FIXED for Beta 3)
  • The “Disconnect Input/Output/All sockets” node context menu options were broken. The fix is included in the fixed script posted above. (FIXED for Beta 3)
  • The “Normal” channel is not accessible yet when using FaceQuery with CurrentMesh geometry input. It works with InputGeometry. (FIXED for Beta 3)
  • Raytrace Map is currently not supported inside an TexmapEval node and will cause 3ds Max to crash immediately. (CRASH FIXED for Beta 3)
  • The Operator for getting the Element’s Area/Face/Vertex count is not in the build yet. It will be available in a later Beta build.
  • On some machines, loading an existing Max scene with different Gamma settings can cause the Genome modifiers to load incompletely if the Gamma and LUT dialog pops up during the loading process. WORKAROUND: Loading the scene a second time fixes the issue once the new Gamma settings are accepted. Please report if you see this bug since it seems to happen only on some configurations and we need to find the common conditions to fix it.
  • Geometry acceleration structures are currently rebuilt in each frame even if the geometry is not changing, resulting in reduced performance. (FIXED for Beta 3)
  • The ToCamera and FromCamera operators are currently not working. WORKAROUND: Please use the ToSpace and FromSpace operators and pick the Camera explicitly.
