The density channel is not populated by PFlow/Thinking Particles in

the general case. The initial value per particle is set to 1.0, then

scaled by the transparency of the material, and the Visibility

controller from the node in the scene. The renderer itself has a

number of settings for influencing density at render time.



The exceptions to this rule are custom channels using Box 3, MAXScript

operators, or the MXSFloat channel when using PFlow. When using

Thinking Particles, the density is seeded with the value of a custom

channel named Density if it exists.
